Well, well, well. I bet you were starting to forget what I sounded like, weren’t you? Or maybe you haven’t noticed I’ve been ok. That’s ok too!
I haven’t updated my blog in quite a while. Seven weeks to be exact. I’ve been a mixture of really busy and really ill. My migraines have been back with a vengeance recently and they’ve completely wiped me out, leaving little energy for anything. I’ve been housebound (bedbound, actually) for most of the week. My migraines are still ongoing, I’m having good days and not so good days. I’ll come back to this another day.
I kept going to send an apology tweet, but why apologise? Everyone needs a break now and then.
So I thought I’d ease myself back into blogging with a good old weekly round up post.
I’ve started watching Girlboss. Like everyone else, I bought the book but I haven’t actually got around to reading it. Mostly because I completely misunderstood what it was about. I thought Sophia Amoruso would be giving advice on how she set up her business and how she’s rocking the world of self-employment. In essence, I thought it was a non-fiction book that would be really helpful but I categorise many books like that as action-creating books. And while that’s great, at the moment I’ve needed fiction books. I’m currently reading before bed to unwind and reading a non-fiction that would make me want to get off my arse and get motivated was not what I needed.
But it turns out it’s fiction based on Sophia’s life. Well, the programme is, at least. It recently appeared on Netflix so I thought I’d give it a go. Her character is likeable one minute and really dislikable the next which is an interesting juxtaposition to follow. Three episodes in and I’m already thinking about what things I can pick up for free and sell on eBay for a profit! It’s quite funny and easy to watch so I’m going to stick with it.
I had my first ever physio appointment for my knees this week. I’ve always had problems with them but they’ve been exasperated ever since I twisted one of them in roller derby last year. Even though I only hurt one of them then, both of them now hurt more whenever they’re bent for too long. Go figure. I have to be completely stretched out in the evenings, as I can’t sit on the sofa normally. The physio thinks it’s patellofemoral pain, which I think is something to do with my knee cap being high and my knees not sitting completely flat in the joints. She has given me some daily stretches to do. I’m hoping they will help to stop my knees from getting any worse as I get older. I’d kinda like to hang on to them.
Another great thing this week: I’ve also discovered chocolate oat milk and OH MAMA. It’s so, so good! It feels like a proper treat too – a good alternative to chocolate. I want to have a carton of the stuff in my fridge at all times.
When I’m having so many bad health days I have to cling on to the good things, no matter how menial!
So I’m off now to grab a quick drink at my local with Rob – I don’t know how the rest of the weekend’s weather will pan out but as it’s a bank holiday it’s bound to be a washout (sorry, I hope I’m not tempting fate) so as it’s actually nice I’m going to get outside!
Have a lovely weekend all and hopefully I won’t be away so long next time.
