I don’t feel like I’ve properly got into my blogging groove yet this year. I had a good break over Christmas with my family and I wanted to have that break from blogging too. I needed it.
I haven’t done a weekly round up in months either, so I thought it might be a good opportunity.
Since Christmas I’ve had a few busy weekends – first I had another trip straight back to Northampton for my niece’s birthday, and the last couple of weekends have been focused on doing my freelance book keeping and tax return. I was so pleased when I submitted my self assessment! Anyone else have to spend ages slogging away at this too? Well done. It’s definitely not fun.
So what else have I been up to?
We’ve bought a few pieces of furniture recently, so with our spare time we’ve been reorganising some of our crap – finding homes for the furniture and then unpacking things into them. Some areas of our house have always been a bit of a mess but it’s because we didn’t have enough storage and so proper homes for things. So I’m excited that the new furniture helps with that. We still have a few more bits to get but it’s a start.
We got a new coffee table. We didn’t actually need one but the new one is much nicer.
A new dresser/cabinet is sitting in the dining room and it will act as a bit of a glasses and drinks cabinet. It’s mostly still empty though.
We got a new sideboard for the dining room, it’s bigger and a nicer style than the old one.
And we got a big chest of drawers for our bedroom.
Most of the new pieces need sanding and/or painting but we’ll get to that in time. At least they’re here for now.
I’ve also been getting rid of a few old pieces of furniture via our local Facebook group. So we’ve had furniture overload, our dining room and spare room are currently a bit chaotic with loads of excess furniture everywhere.
Aside from that, I’ve had a really quiet weekend so far and I’ve really needed it. I love having completely empty weekends after a string of busy ones.
On Thursday I had my quarterly(ish) appointment with my migraine doctor and I had an occipital nerve block – that’s injections of steroids in the back of my head. Sorry if you’re squeamish! It was ok but my head has been a bit sore for the last few days. I hope it works.
I spent yesterday having a bit of a duvet day and I loved it. I started watching Divorce recently, the comedy series written by Sharon Horgan and starring Sarah Jessica Parker. It’s so funny! If you like Catastrophe you’ll love this too. It’s raw. It doesn’t hold back.
And I watched the first episode of Twin Peaks, shamefully I have never seen it before but it’s always been one on the ‘to watch’ list. It really freaked me out! I know it’s supposed to be a bit weird, but it was also difficult to figure out whether some bits were intentionally odd or if it’s just not aged very well. I want to watch more but I’m also hesitant so I might space that one out a bit.
I enjoyed doing a jigsaw puzzle over Christmas so much that I brought one home with me from my mum’s house. I’ve done so little as I’ve found it hard to dedicate much time to it, but it’s really relaxing. I have officially reached old lady status. I actually need to get a move on with it as it’s completely taken over the dining room table. So the puzzle, combined with all the furniture in there means the whole room is pretty much unusable.
I’ve been really enjoying lazy weekend mornings in bed, cuddled up with a cup of tea and my Kindle. I’m living for them now! So that’s how I’m spending this morning. Flicking between my Kindle and Bloglovin. I hope yours is equally relaxing!
