How have I only just discovered Adam Buxton’s podcast?! It’s been top of my list this week and last during my many train journeys back and forth to London (find out why here), as well as my drives to work. I started with his interview with Kathy Burke, which was honest and hilarious and I’ve also loved the ones with Caitlin Moran, Joe Cornish and Louis Theroux. He’s got them all listed on his website.
My fourth and final trip up to London this week, for a couple of weeks anyway, was to see The Animal Collective at Troxy with my brother.
It was a weird old night. A lot happened but I’ll quickly summarise. It started with my train being delayed because of one having broken down just before the stop I was getting off at. When I met up with my brother we went for food, which, to be honest, was really not nice so I didn’t eat much. The support act at the gig was TERRIBLE. Animal Collective were great. The venue was amazing. The trains back were cancelled because of the same broken down train earlier. I got a later train which stopped in the middle of nowhere for about an hour before reversing back to the previous stop. It eventually started moving again and I got home at 2.15am (yes I had to work the next day). Sheesh! Such a shame and it’s making me feel tired again just thinking about it.
Anyway, the main part of the gig was good and my brother enjoyed it too so that’s the main thing.
The various trips I’ve been doing to London have been tiring but I’ve enjoyed each and every one in part because they all included spending time with people who are important to me.
I’ve been making more effort to keep on top of my emails this week too. I’ve slipped a few times recently and they then end up in the hundreds which mean I drown in the trivial emails (normally deleting them immediately) and probably miss a lot of the more important ones I actually want to read. So in terms of my inbox at least, I’m following the mantra of “Don’t do tomorrow what you can do today”. I’m trying! Let’s see how long I can stick at it!
This week also saw the grand old seven year anniversary of my first tattoo. (Thanks for letting me know Facebook). He’s seven years old! I should have made him a little (gluten-free) birthday cake.
On Friday night we got take out from Pho, which was lovely. Both Rob and I spent most of yesterday working so today we hope to do as little as possible!
