I’m finally starting to feel a bit festive – and that could be in part due to it being Christmas next week! Argh, how has it come around so bloody fast? Every year it seems ages away and then all of a sudden it creeps up on you and is staring you in the face.
I’ve been ill (again, I know) for just over a week. It’s only a cold but is clinging on, and I think that’s partly because I can’t take any decongestants or painkillers to ease the symptoms as they all clash with my migraine medication. And I’d rather be snotty than have a bad migraine, thanks very much. Unfortunately though it meant I missed my work Christmas party and karaoke night – but it was better that I rested up and stayed warm than sneezed all over everyone and generally felt disgusting.
Anyhoo, less of that! Here’s what else has been happening in the last week:
Having dinner with a friend: I went round my friend’s house for dinner and ate a grand feast of sausages, chips and beans! He bought the house earlier this year and has been gradually doing it up and it was really exciting to see it for the first time. I always have a really good laugh with him so it was a fun evening and nice to have a low key catch up too.
Putting up Christmas decorations: Yup, over the weekend we finally put up the Christmas tree, and he looks so pretty! We were listening to festive songs on Spotify at the same time to get into the spirit and so named the tree Paul Anka after some old crooner singing a song at the time. Paul Anka looks a bit of alright doesn’t he?
Wrapping presents and sending cards: To top it off I finished off my Christmas present shopping, wrapped them all up and posted all my cards. I am ON IT!
Had an evening with Shaun Keaveny: Sadly not a one-on-one evening but last night Rob and I hot-footed it up to London to see Shaun host an evening of comedy and music in Islington. It was a Christmas special and the tickets were just £9 – bargain! It was at a really little theatre too, it was a really fun night out despite having a million tissues on standby at all times!
Shaun Keaveny: Live and languorous at the Pleasance Theatre
Bince Meef in action: Craig Potter from Elbow, Mark King from Level 42, Matt Everitt and Shaun Keaveny from the 6 Music Breakfast Show
Hope you’re all ready for Christmas and will have a bit of well deserved time off!
