Last week I went to Stylist Live 2015 – the ticket was a birthday present from my friend, Emily. It was such a great day! We were excited to see Dawn O’Porter as soon as we walked in, greeting guests, and the celebrity spotting was to continue throughout the day!
There were loads of interesting stands – from clothes, cosmetics and hairdressing to stationery, homeware and gifts there was so much to look at – and loads of tempting buys!
Emily loving the Pukka tea stand!
I decided to have a make up consultation at the Benefit stand (I don’t often talk about beauty on this blog but I love Benefit and I’m more interested in make up now following this!). I spoke to the lovely Amy Lou who is an eyebrow specialist and shaped my eyebrows before giving me an ‘everyday’ makeover to suit my face. I loved it! I already use a few Benefit basics but bought some new eyeliner there and may look into investing in a few other bits too.
Emily booked us in at a catwalk show which was presented by the magazine’s fashion director – and Dawn O’Porter – and featured five key autumn/winter 2015 trends: 80s glam, decor dressing, period drama, supercharged tweed and sweet and sour. I’ve never been to a proper fashion show before, we were given a kind of menu showing where each of the items of clothing could be bought. I wish I’d been prepared with a pen as my memory has since failed me! We also saw Edith Bowman in the crowd, she looked gorgeous.

It was great that all the clothes the models wore were high street brands which means everything was quite affordable. I even hate fashion pages in magazines that are of only designer brands, I know you can be inspired by them but what’s the point when everything is so out of your budget?
We also went to a talk by feminist Caitlin Moran and journalist Sophie Heawood which was brilliant. Caitlin is so inspiring and when I left I felt really empowered. She’s also bloody funny too, I’d love to go for a drink with her!
I had a really great day and I’m looking forward to next year’s event!
