Here’s what I’ve been up to over the last week:
Enjoying a glass of red wine: And dark chocolate on the odd evening. Considering it’s almost summer (or is it summer already? Not sure when it officially starts), it really has been chilly. And to top it off our central heating seems to have broken. So I’ve been using it as an excuse to sit under my heated blanket with the odd glass of wine!
Going to a comedy sketch show: At Brighton Fringe, which is the UK’s largest arts festival. The show we saw was called Max and Ivan: The End which was about the destruction of a small seaside town after a nuclear explosion. It was performed by two guys in a storage container which had been transformed into a mini theatre. It was brilliant, really funny – they acted out all the characters from the fictitious town and it reminded me a little of The League of Gentlemen.
Nearly dying at a new Zumba class: It was really fun but really hard work – and very sweaty. One song was entirely made up of squats, which was painful but ideal for roller derby training. I didn’t go again this week but I will be checking it out again in the future.
Finding a few charity shop bargains: Including this awesome zebra scarf. I rarely go in charity shops, normally because I feel a bit frustrated unless I’m looking for something very specific. I find just browsing a bit overwhelming. I actually went in this charity shop because I have donated to them recently and wanted to see if any of my donated clothes were on display, which they were! It was a satisfying feeling to see they’ll be helping the charity raise funds.
Visiting the dentist: That makes it sound like we had a catch up over tea and biscuits. It was actually just a check up but OMG my teeth still hurt from the clean with the metal hook thing! I got a bit told off for not flossing enough too so after my appointment I went straight to the supermarket to buy new floss and some of those teeny tiny toothbrush things that let you clean between your teeth. My teeth still feel weird over a week later.
Sewing curtains with my mum: She came down for the day over the weekend to help me sew black out lining to my new bedroom curtains to help block out some of the light. It was so nice just to hang out with her and made me realise how much I miss her. Talking on the phone isn’t quite the same as just being in someone’s company. Mum lives up in Northampton (which is about 2.5 hours away – far enough that I don’t see her very often) and I really need to make more effort to go there or get her to come here.
