Good afternoon everyone! I hope you’re chowing down on a good roast dinner right now. I always start Sundays with a protein shake ahead of roller derby fresh meat training and then follow it up with a cooked ‘breakfast’ for lunch. But I do love a good roast dinner too. Yum!
What have you been up to this week? I have been:
Taking: A wardrobe delivery – it’s so beautiful! It’s an antique wardrobe which was originally bought in France by its last owners. I think it might be Mahogany (or some other kind of dark wood, that’s the only one I can think of…) and it’s been painted off-white in a shabby chic style. It’s a big triple wardrobe and looks so pretty! Next to sort is a second wardrobe (I have one in the garage of my boyfriends’ parents which needs to come back and be rebuilt) and a chest of drawers. Gumtree, here I come!
Organising: And chucking out my clothes. Not all of them, I’m not a nudist maniac, but a new wardrobe called for a spring clean so I spent some more time going through all my clothes and deciding whether I’ll really ever again wear that pair of size 10 jeans with the split crotch. I created mountains of clothes for charity shops, a pile of bin clothes (well, actually I stuck the unsellable bits in one of those clothes recycling banks) and keep-ables. It was actually really therapeutic and I rediscovered some great stuff I forgot I even had.
Announcing: My new official roller derby name for joining the Brighton Rockers team. Drum roll please! My name is…
It’s a play on Ruby Soho which is a Rancid song and I think works for me for a number of reasons. I really like the band and the song; I like the idea of having an actual female name followed by something else (plus I LOVE the name Ruby); and Go-Go makes me sound speedy (I could be setting myself up for failure there as I’m definitely not speedy yet) but it’s perfect for a fast sport like roller derby! What do you think?
I also chose my derby number and went for 182 as Blink 182 will always have a special place in my heart <3 (how sad)
Freaking: Rob out by secretly planting a zombie gnome in the garden. He’s blood splattered and his eyes even glow in dark!
Pampering: After reading Hannah Gale’s blog post about the perfect pamper session on Monday I decided a good DIY pamper was just what I needed on a dreary Monday evening. So I had a bath, exfoliate and face mask (plus one of those nose pore/blackhead strips, I love those) and then got into my pyjamas. It was bloody lovely.
Feasting: On Tesco’s free from (gluten free) pizza bases. I really think they’re the best ones supermarket ones I’ve had! They’re pretty small so you need a salad to go with it (or just eat two like I may have done…) but they’re really soft and doughy. I put on some passata for the base and then topped mine with crumbled feta, olives, tomatoes and garlic-infused olive oil. So delicious!
Hope you have a great Sunday!
