The clocks go back tonight (well, technically tomorrow morning at 2am). It does mean darker mornings which is a bit of a shame, but it also means we get an hour longer in the day. But how will you spend the extra time?
This seems like the obvious choice to me, especially as we actually gain the extra hour in the middle of the night. Get an hour’s extra kip. I struggle to sleep at the best of times – I struggle to doze off in the first place and then I’m restless throughout the night and am a light sleeper. So the chance for an extra hour snuggling under the duvet is music to my ears.
This is also a massive benefit to an extra hour – more time to chill. I’ve had a few busy weekends recently so I’d planned to have a fairly quiet, relaxed few days this weekend. So that means catching up on TV, watching a few films, reading a magazine, writing on my blog and generally pottering around the house.
One of the most common excuses people give for not exercising is the lack of time. So with an extra hour this weekend, you have no excuse not to get moving. Hit the gym, go for a run or take the dog for a walk – it all counts.
I have been quite bad recently at staying in touch with friends. Whether it’s picking up the phone to chat to friends far away or making the effort to meet up with friends just a mile away, the extra hour means you can fit in an extra coffee or pint with a mate.
What will you do with your extra hour?
I know how I’ll be spending mine…
