I recently was given a product called Forever Ink Shield which is a moisturiser specifically designed to care for tattooed skin. It was developed by celebrity tattoo artist Louis Molloy as an everyday solution to rehydrate the skin, protect your tattoos from the sun and help to keep the colours looking bold and vivid.
It is essentially a moisturiser combined with a SPF 45 sun cream. I’ve started using it twice a day to see if it makes a difference to my skin (you might be thinking that’s silly as it’s no longer summer but you can still get skin damage – and consequent tattoo colour fading – through the rest of the year!). It’s a thicker consistency than I originally envisaged – more like sun lotion than traditional face or body moisturiser, although not greasy like some sun lotions.
It has a really subtle smell similar to a Bodyshop clay face mask that I have. It’s quite gentle so can see that it’s suitable to be used as part of a normal skin care routine – but the main problem for me is that the bottle is rather small. It holds 50g which I would get through very quickly if always applying twice a day – and I only have a tattooed arm and chest.
If you fancy giving it a go, it costs £12.99 for a 50g bottle.
I was given this product for free in exchange for a review
