In case the title hasn’t given it away, yesterday was my birthday. And a lovely day it was too. My boyfriend treated me to breakfast in bed (Coco Pops and a cuppa – the boy knows me well) and then I opened my birthday cards and presents. I got some new flip flops, a book, some Body Shop hand cream and a DVD featuring the two Coreys. The boy done good.
I hadn’t planned anything for the day as I wasn’t sure what the weather was going to be doing. It was raining when I woke up at about 6am, but by the time we had got ready it switching between sunny and cloudy spells. Sod sitting around indoors figuring out what it was going to do, we were heading into town.
We firstly stopped by the Brighton Japan Festival (which actually was much smaller than I expected it to be and our poor timing meant that there wasn’t much going on around the stage area). So we had a nose around the stalls and looked at a giant collaborative manga drawing and then went towards the sea front.
We stopped outside the Fortune of War for a couple of drinks, making the most of the gorgeous clear blue skies (we only live a 15 min walk away in Hanover but what a difference that makes). Lots of other people had the same idea and the sea front was pretty busy. I have to say a highlight of the day was watching people eating chips being dive-bombed by hungry seagulls.
Later on we went for a lovely meal at vegetarian restaurant Terre a Terre (I think by this point, after a couple more drinks, I had forgotten my camera existed so didn’t take any pictures – but take my word for it, the food was stunning). We endulged a little too much and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so full, Christmas days included, so we opted for a taxi home rather than waddling back up the hill. But all in all, a beautiful day.
